Sisters Katie McClure and Erin Breen are no strangers to travel. When Katie booked a last minute yoga retreat in Bali in 2011, she had no idea it would spark the idea for what would become MIRTH, a socially conscious, responsible fashion brand.

She had been searching for a caftan to bring home to her sister Erin, but couldn’t find any that were versatile or just the right style. During her search, she did see beautiful fabrics and workshops where women artisans were making things by hand and she started thinking there might be a way to connect the dots.

Several travels later, Katie found herself in Nepal making sample caftans out of local fabrics and then heading to India to meet Erin where they officially began laying the foundation for MIRTH. What started as a caftan line has evolved into a must-have collection of ‘resort wear,’ but really each piece can be worn daily.

From the very beginning, the sisters committed to building their business responsibly, employing local artisans and working to keep the art of handmade textiles alive. In addition to providing meaningful work and creating economic opportunities, MIRTH supports women and children in Jaipur, India through a partnership with Taabar, an organization that provides healthcare, advocacy, shelter, education and outreach.

MIRTH donates a percentage of sales to Taabar to further the work being done in underserved communities in India and if that isn’t enough to hook you, head to their site where you will in fall in love with the collection. Every. Single. Piece.
